I can recommend Jambo Guest House without hesitation to every backpacker or indivual traveller on Zanzibar. We stayed there for five nights. Our room was clean and big with an AC and a fan on the ceiling. The big beds were equipped with mosquito-nets. There are very simple shared bathrooms outside of the rooms, but they were clean. The staff is most friendly and helpful. They even were supporting us when we had trouble booking our flight to Kilimanjaro-Airport.
Stayed here for 5 nights in total and I'm really glad I did. The guys that work the front desk are really nice and helpful, and the breakfast is the best I've had in a guesthouse, and it's included! The rooms and bathrooms are fairly basic but they're always kept clean and for the price they're a real bargain, especially with this great location! Asante na Tutaonana Badaaye!
We really enjoyed our stay at Jambo Guesthouse. Staying in a private room, the bed was comfortable, air con worked well, breakfast was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They organised the prison island tour as well as our transport to Nungwi at a reasonable rate. The guesthouse is in a good location in Stone Town and you can walk there to the ferry terminal. We would definitely stay here again!
Stayed there 5 days to explore Stone Town and Surroundings. The staff is really nice and helpful to plan trips in and outta town. The rooms are very clean and allthough there's shared bathrooms and the Guesthouse have very nice price performance ratio I choose it. I Definitely recommend it for Backpacker and if I'm in Town I stay with them again. Thanks for having me in Greetings Hubert from Austria.
A couple of friends and I are traveling through East Africa and during our stop in Zanzibar, we decided to stay here after seeing 3 or 4 other places. The one thing that got us to choose Jambo Guest House was the cleanliness. The rooms are spotless! Whoever they hire to clean the rooms here are doing a great job. The prices weren't exactly cheap ($60/night for a triple) but they are not over the top either. The location is quite strange. It is tucked away in the alleys but after a few days you get a good sense of where your going.
Picking the Jambo Guest House was the best decision I took, that is besides deciding to visit Zanzibar. The staff is very friendly and helpful and can organise anything from a map for Stone town to the best priced tours. The breakfast is the standard fruit and eggs with bread and coffee, tea or juice - but it is really filling and well prepared. The rooms are not luxurious but it is spacious and clean with the typical big wooden Zanzibar beds. The Guest House can only accommodate about 18 people so it never feels like you are staying in a school residence.
I only had 4 days in Zanzibar so decided to stay close to the airport and chose to base myself in Stonetown. I was on a tight budget and Jambo Guesthouse was suggested. I instantly liked it - it reminded me of the hostels in Europe. The room was bright and clean with a big queen four poster bed with mosquito netting. The bathroom was shared (and very clean) but since I was traveling alone, I found this was a great way to meet other solo travelers. Soon I had a friend to explore (and get lost in the maze of) Stonetown. I found the staff very friendly and kind.
This is a great place to stay in Stone Town. It's a short walk to the downtown area. Prices are excellent and rooms are simple and clean. Bathroom is shared for some rooms and is clean and sparse (no luxuries here) but it's a hostel. Staff were very kind and accommodating. Would recommend staying here without any hesitation and look forward to staying there next time I visit. Restaurant just outside the front door stays open late and has free wifi. Rooms do have A/C. Breakfast is provided and offers a hearty selection made to order.
